Improvements to Kiwanis Park provide for vital open space within the heart of downtown Rutherfordton. The Kiwanis Park master plan was adopted in 2019 and features new trails, an adventure playground, shelters, restrooms, and dog park. The park connects with the Purple Martin Greenway to provide pedestrian and bicycle connectivity to Main Street.

Project Status

Phase 1 of Kiwanis Park has been fully funded, with a Grand Opening of the main park facilities occurring on February 25th, 2021. The dog park opened in April.

Phase 2 construction was also completed in 2021 and includes an event gazebo, additional parking, a secondary bathroom to support the dog park, and landscaping.
