Kiwanis Park & Court Street

Improvements to Kiwanis Park AND COURT STREET provide for vital open space and bicycle and pedestrian connectivity within the heart of downtown Rutherfordton. The Kiwanis Park master plan was adopted in 2019 and features new trails, an adventure playground, shelters, and a restroom. Court Street improvements will provide connectivity from the Purple Martin Greenway to Main Street.

Project Status

The Kiwanis Park is under construction and the first phase will be complete by the end of 2020. The second phase, including the dog park and shelters, will be constructed in 2021, dependent on fundraising efforts.

Court Street improvements have not yet begun and are dependent upon fundraising efforts; this project is critical for attracting trail users to visit the many small businesses located on Main Street.
