The Town of Lake Lure has an active Rutherford Bound steering committee which is committed to advancing the Morse Park Master Plan. Expanded parking will require an engineered grading plan and development permits. The new marina and visitor center will require a public/private partnership for management of the restaurant being proposed for the upstairs portion of the new marina. This project is in the preliminary stages of conceptual design.
The Town and the Tourism Development Authority are working to raise funds to start the engineering phase of Morse Park Master Plan. Naming rights are available and the Town is also seeking a private partner wishing to establish a restaurant on the upper floor of the new marina.
