When complete, the Broad River Paddle Trail will feature a series of improved river access locations starting from the Lake Lure dam and south to the county line. Each access will include parking, signage, and a safe river access.
The Tourism Development Authority and Rutherford County are collaborating with NCDOT, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, and Duke Energy to develop two access points where the Broad River intersects with US Highways 221 and 221A. Funding for both projects has been secured, and construction is nearing completion. Efforts are also underway to secure additional access points along this thrilling and adventurous waterway.
